The Beverly Hills Hotel Martinique print bikini
In 1949, the world-famous architect, Paul Williams, added the Crescent Wing to the hotel. He also designed the famous Fountain Coffee Room and made updates to the Polo Lounge.
Among the most famous features added during this time is the legendary banana leaf wallpaper. The wallpaper is featured in the Coffee Room and in all of the hallways of the hotel-5 ½ miles of wallpaper to be exact.
The original wallpaper design is by C.W. Stockwell who copied the pattern from a Don Loper fabric design. Don Loper was one of the most famous and influential fashion designers in Hollywood at the time and worked for the major film studios as well. Many films that featured the hotel focus on this famous wallpaper as the signature of the property. The original application technique was to hand-cut the leaves and apply them individually to the walls.
Today, the historic staircase leading to the Coffee Room still features the hand-cut application.
